My Grandma Simmons
When my Grandma Simmons started going downhill in her health she had gone to the hospital for a few days and they gave her about 6 months to live. We had taken her out of the hospital cause there wasn't much else they could do so she went to live at my Uncle Darcy and Aunt Vikki's house. Since then she had her good days and bad days. Each time we would go and visit her I knew it was getting closer to the day she would leave this earth. When we went to see her on Sunday Septmber 7,2008 my dad said she probably has until about the end of the week. Well little did I know she didn't even have that long. The next day Monday September 8,2008 I woke up like any other day and got ready for work. I left for work at 12:45pm. When I arrived at work I realized my dad called so I called him back and that's when I found out she had passed away at 12:15pm. My eyes filled up with tears. I got work off that day and the whole Simmons family and I spent that day at my Uncle Darcy and Aunt Vikki's house. That day was a very sad day.
Thursday September 11,2008 was the day of the viewing. I was nervous to see her laying in the cascet. When I showed up at the viewing I saw her and she was so beautiful in her white temple clothes. I also saw pictures of her and grandpa when they were young and I could see why they married each other. My Grandma was so beautiful and my Grandpa was so handsome and I think they made the perfect couple. The viewing had a very good turn out.
The funeral was the next day on Friday September 12,2008. We had to be at the church at 9:45am. The viewing was from 10:00am-11:00am then the funeral started. My two sisters Ashleigh and Shelby and my cousin Brianna sang Be Still My Soul and I played the piano for them. Everyone thought it turned out really well. After, we drove up to the cemetery. After they gave the prayer the let each of the grandchildren pick a rose off of her cascet cause my Grandmas favorite flower was a rose. I thought that was really neat. After we got some pictures taken we went back to the church for the luncheon and just hung out for the rest of the time. The funeral turned out really nice and beautiful. I will always remember and love my Grandma Simmons. I just tell my self she is in a better place with her family.
